Made with purpose, passion, & whole-hearted creativity.
Hey! My name is Britney, and I’m the co-owner of Talavera Cantina.
Talavera Cantina is a specialty Mexican cocktail bar located in my hometown of Mott Haven, NYC. We focus on immersing and educating our neighborhood about authentic Mexican culture. As the first of our kind in the South Bronx, we take pride in our in-house mixology, which highlights Mexican-owned spirits, including our curated collection of tequilas and mezcales.
Education, innovation, and a lot of experimentation.
We dedicate ourselves to providing an experience you can’t find anywhere else in the Bronx. My sister, Karen, is the creative behind our cocktail program, while my mom is the heart of the bar. Together, they’ve created experimental drinks such as our fat-washed Mole Old Fashioned and have reimagined classics like the spicy margarita.
We love educating our community by sharing the stories behind Mexican spirits, especially tequila and mezcal. We focus on uplifting brands built on family lineage, tradition, and a deep respect for Mexican heritage.
The story beyond the doors of 43 Bruckner Blvd.
Although Talavera Cantina has only been open since August 2023, 43 Bruckner Blvd has been in my family since 2009. My parents opened their very first restaurant at this exact location, making it one of the first establishments on this stretch of the boulevard. Over the years, this space became more than just a restaurant. It became part of our family’s story.
Once my parents felt like it was time to try something new, they passed the torch to my sister and me. Having this unique opportunity, we decided to create something different through the perspective of the new generation. We decided to pay homage to our cultural roots in our hometown, with Talavera Cantina being a love letter to our family, to the generations past and present, and to Mexico itself.
